Terms of Use

Last updated: July 9, 2026

This website is operated by Bard's Law, a law firm in Vancouver, British Columbia. By using this website, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree with them, please don't use the site. These terms exist mostly to make three things clear — what this site is, what it isn't, and how we can start working together properly.

This site is legal information, not legal advice

Everything on this website — pages, guides, pricing information, answers to common questions — is general legal information. It is not legal advice, and it isn't a substitute for advice about your situation. Family law and estate law are fact-specific and jurisdiction-specific, the law changes, and something that is accurate in general may be wrong for you. Please don't act, or decide not to act, based on anything you read here without getting advice on your own circumstances.

Using this site does not make us your lawyers

Browsing this website, submitting a contact or intake form, booking a discovery call, or emailing us does not create a lawyer-client relationship. We become your lawyers only when we have confirmed there is no conflict of interest and you have signed a retainer agreement with us.

This matters for a practical reason: until you are our client, we are not protecting your position or your deadlines. Legal claims have time limits, and some are short. If you think you may have a deadline, act quickly — with us or with another lawyer.

A note before you send us details

Until we've confirmed we can act for you, please limit what you send to what we need to check for conflicts and understand what you're looking for: your name, the other party's name, and a general description of the matter. Save the full story and any documents for after we've confirmed we can work together — our intake process will ask for the right things at the right time, through the right channels.

Intake forms and scheduling

Our questionnaires and booking tools carry their own instructions and consents, which apply in addition to these terms. Please answer accurately and completely — we rely on what you tell us for conflict checking and to prepare properly.

Pricing information

Fee information on this website is provided to help you plan, and reflects our usual arrangements at the time of posting. Actual fees for your matter are confirmed in a consultation and set out in a retainer agreement. Fee information may change without notice.

Accuracy and availability

We take reasonable care to keep this website accurate and current, but we don't guarantee that everything is complete, correct, or up to date at any given moment, or that the site will be available or error-free. The website and its content are provided "as is."

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Bard's Law and its lawyers and staff are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of, or reliance on, this website or its content, or from your inability to use it. Nothing in these terms limits any liability we owe to clients under a retainer agreement or under the rules of the Law Society of British Columbia or the Law Society of Ontario.

Copyright and use of content
